Overview

Monday was fragmented: on the Currency Compass, one common dollar move explained only 37% of the day's price action, against a six-month norm of 53%, the third session in a row below 40% (Figure 2). Gold detached almost entirely from currencies, with a correlation to the major pairs of 0.14 against a norm of 0.43.

Overnight, Brent has fallen 1.47% to 114.69; according to media reports, diplomacy around Iran eased supply concerns. Today's calendar is thin; the FOMC begins its two-day meeting, with the decision due at 18:00 UK on Wednesday, according to the Federal Reserve's calendar.
