Overview
Thursday was a broad dollar retreat with one exception. Treasury yields fell, with the 10-year down 9 basis points to 5.10% on the US Treasury's daily curve, and every major currency except the Australian dollar gained, led by the Swiss franc with its largest daily gain since August 19 on our measured closes, while gold added 1.61%. A much hotter US producer price print did not change that direction. Today's data calendar carries nothing above Tier 3, so the overnight remarks from Fed Chair Warsh in Bangkok, the last scheduled before the Fed's quiet period, are the reference point for the session.
